Exchange Student Trip

Huddersfield Lions were very happy to host two exchange students earlier this month. Mia from Serbia and Flora from Hungary stayed for nine days in Huddersfield where they experienced a variety of sights, food and culture from this area.

We visited the Piece Hall in Halifax, took a trip on a steam train on the Worth Valley railway from Keighley to Howarth together with some members from Keighley Lions. The Bronte parsonage museum was enjoyed by Flora and Mia as well as walking around Howarth itself. Some of the places we visited included The Thackray museum of Medicine and the Armouries in Leeds, The Jorvik Viking Centre, The Van Gogh experience and the York Dungeon.

Mia and Flora enjoyed afternoon tea overlooking the vineyard in Holmfirth, Sunday lunch, Fish & Chips and a curry meal as well as home cooked food.

After their stay in Huddersfield, Flora and Mia went to the camp in London where they experienced many other sights together with the other exchange students from around the world.

The feedback from Mia and Flora was very positive and I hope they returned home having enjoyed their stay with us and in London. I certainly enjoyed the time spent with them and it has been enriching hearing about their plans for the future, their families and life in Serbia and Hungary.

Thank you to Keighley Lions and Jackie Bowater who helped with Flora and Mia's visit to Huddersfield.
